Chapter 2 · Using the app

Battery onboarding

Model-first registration through market placement (WF-01 → WF-07): workspace setup, pre-loaded catalog data, product family authoring, unit passports, compliance, and public QR.

Onboarding flow (WF-01 → WF-07)

Golden path for a new manufacturer tenant. Pre-defined platform catalogs load at startup; your team then registers models and passports. Demo-ready diagram — no JavaScript required.

Platform catalogs (loaded at startup)

Tenant-agnostic reference data and attribute definitions — not entered per battery.

  • AttributeDefinition~108 DIN codes
  • LMT reference catalogue28 demo packs
  • SVHC reference31 substances
  • ObligationCatalogcompliance checklist

WF-01 Catalog

Provision from LMT reference

LMT reference catalogue or model CSV reference_code → copies baseline attribute_value + carbon onto new BatteryModel.

WF-01 Manufacturer

Register battery model

New model — public model code, category, chemistry. Values stored on BatteryModel + attribute_value (holder = MODEL).

WF-03 Manufacturer

Carbon footprint (model)

Model → Carbon: class A–E, kg CO₂e/kWh, five lifecycle stages. Methodology validated against CarbonMethodologyCatalog. See carbon guide.

WF-02 Manufacturer

Model materials & BOM

Materials, BOM, circularity / recycled % on the model once. Uses AttributeDefinition codes; BOM rows on BatteryModel. Materials guide.

WF-02 Bulk

Passport CSV import

Registry CSV: public_id, model_code, serial_number — inherits model static data.

WF-02 Manufacturer

Create passport (unit)

New passport — serial + public ID (QR). Status ManufacturedAuthoring on first save. Unit hazardous substances (SVHC-aware) + production data.

WF-05 System

Compliance check

Compliance evaluates ObligationCatalog rows per tenant → ComplianceObligation DONE / GAP / PENDING before market placement.

WF-06 Manufacturer → NB

NB conformity assessment

Passport → propose NB_AUDIT grant → Conformity pending. NB engagements approve → Conformity assessed, model CE marked, EU DoC stub, passport locked.

WF-07 Manufacturer

Place on market

Lifecycle → economic-operator chain (manufacturer, importer, distributor, PRO…) → status On market. Requires conformity assessed + mandatory completeness.

Public Consumer (QR)

Live passport page

/p/{publicId} — Art. 77 public tier: identity, carbon (from model), materials summary, compliance badges. Manufacturer detail shows copy/open QR URL.

Demo click-path (golden path)

  1. Signup/signup (or use demo manufacturer login).
  2. Model/app/models/new (or provision from LMT catalogue) → carbon → materials & BOM.
  3. Passport/app/passports/new → unit hazardous + production → Compliance.
  4. NB — passport Lifecycle → propose NB → partner approves at /app/nb/engagements.
  5. Market — Lifecycle → place on market → open public /p/{publicId} from passport header.

Passport status during onboarding

Typical progression for a new unit through WF-02 → WF-07:

  • Manufactured — created; no authoring edits yet
  • Authoring — static/unit fields saved
  • Conformity pending — NB grant proposed
  • Conformity assessed — NB approved; passport locked
  • On market — economic-operator chain recorded (WF-07 complete)

Later phases (in-service, second life, recycling) are covered in Workflows & regulation and Recycling & end of life.

Why model-first?

Chemistry, BOM, carbon, and most circularity fields are declared once on the battery model; each passport adds serial identity, hazardous substances, and lifecycle state. See Product family vs units.
